We’re asking 100 people to chip in $50 to help bring Curtain Call: The Hits of Broadway back to the stage. That’s it. Just 100 people who love live theatre and want to help make the next season happen. (But of course, if you want to donate less or more, we’d still love you for it!)
Producing live performances involves significant costs long before an audience takes their seats. Venue hire, rehearsal spaces, musicians, performers, production equipment, lighting, sound, technical staff, marketing, insurance, licensing and photography, amongst other costs, all contribute to putting a show on stage.
Ticket sales help cover these costs, but for an independent production, ticket revenue alone doesn’t always leave much, if anything, at the end of a season.
The goal isn’t to generate significant profits. It’s to create a high-quality production, pay the people involved fairly, and cover the costs of presenting the work.
Sam Steven Productions is an independent producer that aims to provide some of Melbourne’s most talented up-and-coming and early career musicians and performers the opportunity to gain important paid industry experience and to showcase their talents. We also aim to provide an option for Melbourne theatregoers to attend a musical theatre-style performance at a budget friendly price.

Curtain Call: The Hits of Broadway is a high-energy celebration of the greatest songs from musical theatre’s biggest stage and screen sensations.
Featuring showstoppers from Hamilton, SIX, Heathers, Cabaret, The Wizard of Oz, Newsies, Beetlejuice, Legally Blonde, Rent, and Wicked (just to name a few), this electrifying concert brings together around 35 iconic numbers from nearly 30 beloved musicals.
Backed by a live band and performed by a lineup of rising powerhouse vocalists, this is musical theatre at its most thrilling – electrifying, nostalgic, and unforgettable.
